Saskia's journey as an artist began in her early twenties in the South of France. While studying visual merchandising in the Bordeaux region, she was captivated by the interplay of light, texture, and space — and took to the canvas to translate what she experienced into expressive, richly layered works.
Her paintings draw from Asian and Middle-Eastern aesthetics — the elegance of Japanese maiko culture, the intricate geometry of Persian textiles, the meditative stillness of Buddhist art — woven together with the organic beauty of nature and the decorative brilliance of Gustav Klimt. Her grandmother, listed in the Dictionary of Belgian Artists, planted the creative seed that continues to bloom across generations.
Originally from Belgium, Saskia now lives in Carlsbad, California, where the coastal light and natural landscape of Southern California infuse her work with warmth and serenity. She works primarily in oil on canvas — often incorporating gold leaf, silver leaf, and heavy impasto techniques that give her paintings a sculptural, almost three-dimensional quality.
Beyond the studio, Saskia brings the same artistic eye to interior design and hospitality. She owns and curates Zen House VIP, a luxury vacation retreat in Chula Vista where art, design, and tranquility come together — a living extension of her creative philosophy.

Saskia's design sensibility extends beyond the canvas — creating interiors where art, light, and texture work together.
"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see."
Edgar Degas
Every painting begins with a feeling — something glimpsed in nature, recalled from travel, or pulled from the deep well of artistic tradition.
The elegance of Japanese maiko culture, the intricate geometry of Islamic art, and the meditative stillness of Buddhist painting. These traditions inform the composition, color, and spirit of every piece — from the impasto kanzashi ornaments to the gold and silver leaf layered into Persian-inspired works.
The California coastline, the South of France, Santorini's caldera at dusk. Saskia paints what she sees on her walks along Carlsbad's beaches and trails — the way light moves through leaves, the texture of water, the silence of dawn. Nature is both subject and studio.
Gustav Klimt's fearless use of gold, pattern, and the human form. A grandmother listed in the Dictionary of Belgian Artists. And the belief that art should live not just on gallery walls, but in the spaces we inhabit — from canvas to curated interiors.
